In our weekly Trends that Matter series, we provide engaging infographics from healthcare influencers to highlight general trends affecting the pharmaceutical industry. This week's top pharma trend is standardized healthcare.

Data integration allows greater communication across health systems. Standardized healthcare data improves access to drug coverage, provider information and general formulary information.

When a healthcare organization records data in a non-standard format, collaboration becomes challenging. According to OHDSI:

"Healthcare data can vary greatly from one organization to the next. Data are collected for different purposes, such as provider reimbursement, clinical research, and direct patient care. These data may be stored in different formats using different database systems and information models."

The infographic below, created by Nuance Healthcare, explores the importance of streamlining healthcare data to capture meaningful information. Nuance states, "We can empower healthcare organizations, providers and payers to unify the capture, analysis, and use of data to drive smarter care and business."
