In our weekly Trends that Matter series, we provide engaging infographics from healthcare influencers to highlight general trends affecting the pharmaceutical industry. This week's featured topic is market access. Pharma experts regularly analyze market access data for trending classes including diabetes, multiple sclerosis and hemophilia.

Access to quality treatment is critical for diabetes care. According to The International Diabetes Foundation Europe:

"People with diabetes rely on continuous access to medicines and devices to manage their life-long condition. This requires sufficient investment to ensure sustainable and uninterrupted access to diabetes medicines and devices."

The importance of this treatment will continue to grow in upcoming years. By 2035, diabetes is predicted to affect 592 million people worldwide, according to the International Diabetes Federation.

However, in the current health exchange marketplace, over half of lives face barriers to diabetes treatment, as outlined in MMIT's Reality Check on Diabetes.
